One question that has always fascinated men is whether the African zebra is white with black stripes or black with white strips.  Although African folklore and legends suggest that the African zebra was originally a white animal that acquire the black stripes, studies of zebra embryos have shown that the African zebra is initially a black animal with the white stripes appearing later in its development.
